And just like that, the Florida Gators have pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season against the Ole Miss Rebels. As a result, fans can expect the top 25 rankings to be a giant mess.

What this win means for Florida: The Gators will continue to move up the rankings, and the SEC East might actually have a shot at getting a team into the College Football Playoff. After the Georgia Bulldogs went down (hard) against the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Gators are now the team to beat in the SEC East.

What this loss means for Ole Miss: The Rebels were probably a wee bit overrated entering this SEC showdown.

All of that said, playing on the road in college football is no easy feat. That is especially true when a team (Ole Miss in this case) has to travel to the Swamp.

Although it is very easy to get carried away over a win like this, let’s just remember that this was no fluke. Florida won by the score of 38-10, after all.

Now, all the Gators have to do is knock off teams like the LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs and Florida State Seminoles. If they can do that, and somehow win the SEC championship game as well, they will be playing in the College Football Playoff.

Of course, that path is going to be rather tough, but at least it is clear that the SEC East still has a fighting chance. As for Ole Miss, it’s time to go back to the drawing board, wouldn’t you say?
