Washington Forward Martin Breunig to Transfer; C.J. Wilcox Still Contemplating NBA Draft

It has been a busy past couple of days for the Washington Huskies.

Following UCLA‘s decision to fire Ben Howland over the weekend, head coach Lorenzo Romar instantly had his name linked to that vacancy. Romar said that he has not been contacted about the opening and in fact is comfortable at Washington. So we can pretty much put that rumor to rest.

In other news however, Romar and the school has also announced that sophomore forward Martin Breunig has made the decision to transfer. Breunig, who is a German-native, struggled to improve his playing time this season, appearing in only nine games total. In those nine games, Breunig scored only one point. He will seek other options that may present a better situation for playing time.

Lastly, it appears that junior guard C.J. Wilcox is still weighing his options in regards to the 2013 NBA Draft. According to the Seattle Times, Wilcox has already filed some paperwork, but no formal decision has been made on whether or not he will declare for the draft or return for his senior season.

Wilcox had a terrific junior year, averaging 16.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season for Romar and the Huskies. The 6-foot-5 guard was given a much larger role after both Tony Wroten Jr. and Terrence Ross left the program for the NBA Draft a season ago. Wilcox however, is awaiting some more information before making any sort of decision regarding his status.

Washington has missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons, so Romar needs to start getting things back to normal soon enough.
